Tuesday Evenings

These Tuesday online classes include guided meditations, thought-provoking teachings and the option to discuss and ask questions at the end (live-stream only).

Everybody is welcome to attend these online classes – ideal for beginners, no previous experience or knowledge is necessary.

Ganden Centre online meditation classes are intended for people who reside in our usual catchment area.

 

 

THE TEACHER

Buddhist nun Kelsang Chogma

Kelsang Chogma is the Resident Teacher for Ganden Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Halifax. She has been practising and teaching meditation and modern Buddhism for over twenty years.

Chogma was ordained as a Buddhist nun in 2009 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and serves as a wonderful example of the ordained way of life in the modern world. She is loved for her joyful enthusiasm and gentle skill in guiding meditations. 


ABOUT THESE CLASSES

Each class is self-contained so you can ‘attend’ any class. Classes include two guided meditations and a teaching. You can book for any class or attend regularly to get the most benefit. Please book below.

Please note: these classes will be a video recording of the Sunday in-person class held at Maurice Jagger Centre. The video link will go live at 7pm on Tuesdays and be available to view for a whole week. 

HOW THE CLASSES RUN

On each Tuesday you will receive an email containing a link and password to view the video on our website. The video will automatically appear at 7pm on the Tuesday and will remain viewable until 7pm the following week.

 


 

Overcoming Stress & Anxiety

Video classes with Buddhist nun Kelsang Chogma & Buddhist Teacher Martin Allingham

Anxiety and stress are increasingly common problems for people in our busy, modern world, especially in these current times. These states of mind prevent us from experiencing peace and enjoying life.

These classes will explore meditation methods and ways of thinking derived from Buddha’s teachings that will help us to let go of our stressed and anxious minds and deal with our negative emotions more confidently and effectively. In this way we can learn to control our mind, rather than allowing our mind to control us.

Everybody is welcome – no need for any previous experience of meditation.

 

 

 


 

Introduction to Meditation

3-week series of meditation classes

These classes will provide a comprehensive introduction to meditation, offering guidelines on developing and deepening meditation practice for complete beginners.

Learn meditations to relax body and mind, achieve inner peace and mental clarity, and develop a kind and patient attitude towards others.

These simple guided meditations that can be practised by anyone. With regular practice, these meditations help us to experience inner peace and mental clarity, and to increase our love and compassion for others.
