The true nature of things

Recognizing the interdependence of all things through meditation

The core insight of Buddhism is that we suffer because we grasp at ourselves, other people and the world as separate, independently existing things. In reality, everything exists as part of an infinite web of interconnections, and in particular depends on consciousness. Our instinctive sense that things exist “out there”, separate from our mind, is mistaken. By seeing through this mistake we cut through the very root of the deluded and negative states of mind that are the real cause of all our problems.

This topic is often presented in quite a technical way, but on this day retreat we will instead emphasize simple, direct meditations to gain an initial yet powerful experience of these truths
