Buddha Nature: Meditation Retreat
Recognizing the underlying purity and goodness of our mind
To celebrate Buddha’s Enlightenment Day we are holding a meditation retreat to help us recognize that we too have Buddha Nature, the potential to achieve perfect enlightenment. Like the clear sky behind even the darkest clouds, the essential nature of our mind is eternally clear and pure. It is true that on the surface there are many negative and deluded thoughts and emotions that make it difficult to see this fundamental purity, but these are just mistaken mental habits that can, with skill and diligence, be removed. When the clouds of negativity disperse, the innate goodness and wisdom of our Buddha Nature shines forth, and we too become a Buddha, a fully enlightened being.
On this day retreat theoretical instructions will be kept to a minimum, leaving plenty of time to meditate. The meditations will be simple and guidance provided, but there will also be a lot of time to go deeper in silence. This retreat is suitable for both experienced mediators and complete beginners.
